FMCSA Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP)
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has launched their Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP). This program will allow commercial carrier companies to electronically access driver accident and inspection records when screening truck driver applicants.
“It sends a strong message to commercial carriers and drivers that we are serious about having the safest drivers behind the wheel of large trucks and buses,” said U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood.
Employers of truck drivers will have the ability to access key information about potential employees and then assess their safety risk. The PSP information system will be updated monthly with state-reported accident reports, inspection and compliance reviews, enforcement, and motor carrier census information. Driver records will have chance to verify information and their records will be protected under federal law.
The Tabor Law Firm is very supportive of this new program the FMCSA has launched. We hope that this PSP will help reduce the number of truck accidents in Indiana, caused by driver negligence. If you have been seriously injured in an accident involving a truck, contact Tabor Law. You may be entitled to compensation and our attorneys will be your partner throughout the legal process.
